In preparation for the main works contract, Arch and Godfrey were awarded the contract to add an extension to the western elevation of the original airport to house the new outward baggage handling facilities. The contract also including sinking the wells required for the proposed geothermal cooling system.
Designed by RS&H, in partnership with Chalmers Gibbs, and AMR Engineers, Kevin Drysdale was lead quantity surveyor for the construction phase of the project.
On 27 March 2019 the new airport terminal was officially opened Their Royal Highnesses – Charles, The Prince of Wales and Camilla
Kevin Drysdale was lead quantity surveyor for the CI$61 million expansion of Owen Roberts International Airport on Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands that was designed to increase the airport’s passenger capacity to 2.5 million passengers a year.
Designed by RS&H, in partnership with Chalmers Gibbs, and AMR Engineers the expansion was completed my McAlpine in four-phases to create a terminal with more than 200,000 square feet of modern airport facilities including a new departures lounge (that is three times the size of the original), a new arrivals area (for both international and domestic passengers), modern duty free retail outlets and a food court.
